I'm not saying you're always going to have a great experience, but I try to be as friendly as possible in places where this may make a difference, and both the lady at the counter and 2 men receiving returns cars were all pleasant people. I had a long conversation with 1 gentleman waiting for my wife to pick me up and he gave me some life advice that I plan to incorporate into my New Years resolution. He's really the reason that I wanted to leave a review. On the downside, there was some gum on the backseat belt. Overall, a good experience.
This is the first review I have ever posted in hopes this saves someone else from picking this place.
Booked online. I had a late flight in and scheduled my pickup right at closing. Thrifty had already closed for the day. Spent 45mins waiting for a shuttle that never came. When I called the customer service number I was told thrifty "couldn't honor my rental agreement because information was missing" despite the multiple confirmations I have saying everything was good. Let's be honest, they couldn't honor my agreement at all because they were closed.
I booked online through a Chase rewards program and Thrifty was the cheapest option. Fast forward to picking up the car and even after I declined the Fuel Purchase Option, the cashier decided to add it to my reservation any way to the tune of an additional $37.87. When I caught it after my trip, there was supposedly nothing they could do because "I selected the Fuel Purchase Option and signed the agreement", even though I was returning the car completely full with a receipt to prove it. The customer service rep I spoke to over the phone offered only apologies, but since "I selected the Fuel Purchase Option and signed the agreement", there was nothing he could do. I will never rent from Thrifty again and hope this review saves someone from renting from this location, or at the very least, "selecting" the Fuel Purchase Option.
"0" stars.Thrifty left us high and dry at the Raleigh Durham Airport after reserving a car online AND calling to verify the reservation the day-of. Weeks before our trip we reserved a car online to pick up at the Raleigh Durham airport for getting us back to our house in a city an hour away. We called from the terminal the day-of to verify our reservation and everything was set. We get to the Thrifty rental counter (at 10:30pm after 15 hours of flying) and they won't rent us a car because they have an unpublished policy to not allow debit cards for car rentals without proof of a return flight. THAT WAS NOT STATED ON THEIR SITE and was NOT conveyed to us when we called to verify we had a way home. They just shrugged their shoulders and said they didn't want to make an exception because they might get in trouble. Their offices are closed after 5p so there was no talking to anyone but the counter clerks. VERY UNSATISFIED WITH THEIR LACK OF CLARITY AND THEN LACK OF CARE WHEN WE ADDRESSED THE SITUATION WITH THEM. They gave no other options - just sent me and my family out onto the night. THANK YOU UBER FOR RESCUING US!!! NO THANKS TO THRIFTY!!!!
Three minute late fee...$4.31 that was because I was processed behind another driver. $15 fee for what...not sure of. Rental car companies are terrible and Thrifty is just like them. Then...billing leaves at 5pm while CS stays on all night...to tell you billing has left...like I would call for anything else. Poor experience. I hope all major brand execs STAY where they are, cause the industry needs new companies. Even Enterprise is a terrible experience. Please...one company just be competent..."mean" it and deliver. This one or two day rental business is not rocket science!
If anything sums this up it is this: When asking another rental company's shuttle driver about thrifty and the guy at the rental desk they already knew what happened as it happens all the time.
