At the Raleigh RDU Airport, there is little difference between the regular Emerald Isle and Executive Isle. As an executive, I find the same car in both Isles (usually different color). The selection is poor most of the time. Local staff is marginal. The cars are washed and wet. The inside is usually not vacuumed. For example, often there is a sticky/wet substance in the cup holders. It's the previous person who spilled a soft drink; no one in National cleaned it up. Often, gas is 7/8 of a tank, and yet marked "full" by the checkout person. And, upon return, the check-in person won't accept anything less the needle on full or beyond. What a rip-off. Yes, I am forced to rent from National by my company. Even Hertz is getting better.
I had the most helpful check out staff person. I mistakenly helped myself to an Emerald Club car. Instead of making me take it back and go through the regular process, she enrolled me on the spot and let me keep going with the car. The Southern hospitality was in full force!
Renting a car has never been so easy. I am part of the Emerald Club so that makes it a bit more fluid as I only had interaction with personnel at check-in (to confirm gas was filled and to get a receipt). I love the Emreal Club experience! Good stuff!
We rented a Chevrolet Suburban for use in our business for one week. We were very pleased to get our requested type of vehicle and in the color we needed. Also the rate was very good compared to the other rental car options in the area. There were some negative issues. The vehicle was not very clean on the outside or interior. Also, the back seats were folded down and this hid several places with vomit on and between the seats. We did not have time to return the vehicle once this was discovered and cleaned the vehicle ourselves. When we reported these issues upon returning the vehicle the manage did give us a refund on one day of the lease. Hence, can recommend this rental car service but check out the vehicle carefully before leaving.
I love National. I travel often and it's great to be able to simply walk to a car and be on my way instead of waiting in a line. I've been able to rent cars through my mobile app while walking from the gate to the rental area because I forgot to reserve a car. My only complaint is that they don't provide toll passes in their Milwaukee location, otherwise it would have been a 5 star review.
